Hey guys im looking at buying my first Subaru soon. Iv decided on a liberty but cant decide on which model or series. Iv narrowed my search to liberty's because they fit my criteria: Has to be auto for the mrs, has to be a comfortable city driver with 4 doors and last but not least it needs potential.

My price range is up to 25,000 and i have been looking at all models but dont know a huge amount about them tuning wise to decide.

My options are: -2.5T GT

                         -2.0T GT

                         -2.0TT

Are the Spec B's and Tuned by STI models worth the extra cash?

Open to any other options as im reasonably new to subaru's. Iv been reading up a bit on them and it seems parts are quite easily accessable and not too expensive.

Sounds like you've decided on a gen 4.
Yes, the SpecB is worth the extra, but will give a harder ride around town than a GT. If you can stretch to a tuned by... Get it. You'll regret not getting a SpecB or STI.

2.5 spec.b gt
Has heaps over the pre-facelift
Interior, exterior look better
steering wheel controls
Dual zone climate control
Electric seats
Hid's
Upgraded stereo
I could go on...
Plus wagon if that floats your boat ;)

Keep away from the TT models unless you absolutely love the shape and if so, plan on changing the motor out for a single turbo (speaking from experience here)

The later models would be the go, especially if you can afford it. Same goes with the Tb STi.

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. To be stripped and scrapped in time.
