Here is the chance for the Sydney crew to help out a Mexican!

I will be in Sydney next month and need some advice on traveling between the airport and Blacktown.

Google maps tells me it's about a 50min trip but I don't trust it, plus it appears there are several different ways to make that journey.

How long would it take to get from Blacktown to the airport if I left at 6pm and what is the best way to go?

Cheers,

Jase

fork that Jase, my work had a program out at Blacktown, it is literally chockers at that time of day. If you are driving yourself forget about it, it's a 40min journey without traffic from my house (near airport), but with traffic it will be close to 2hrs. The sting is when you get to the airport, traffic can back up there a bit, even before you get to the car hire drop off.

As for routes I would take the M7, which will quickly turn into the M2, unless you go through Seven Hills, and then continue on through to the Harbour Tunnel. Then stay on that all the way through on the M1, and take the turn off for the airport (right lane).

The M2 is good these days since the road works are mostly gone. Give yourself a decent buffer.

However if you are going by taxi, there is a T-way that will take you out of Blacktown fairly quick.

I'll be driving as I will have a hire car.

I could get a 2030 flight but Im thinking that might be a bit tight if I left Blacktown after 6pm. Next flight is not until 2205 so I'm trying to avoid hanging out at the airport.

Thanks for the heads up Niko.

Yeah it's not impossible Jase, but Syndey traffic can get real shit real quick. Just avoid the M4 and Parramatta Rd.

The M7/M5 route is also unpredictable. M5 can choke right before the tunnel.

M5 always choked before the tunnel. You are definitely leaving in a peak period that EVERYONE strives to avoid man...

Hopefully I can leave earlier and still get the 2030 flight, if not, then looks like I'll be getting home after midnight. :(

I would definitely have my tips on the 10:05 pm flight man. You have to be at the airport an hour before for domestic flights anyway don't you?

It depends on the airline. Some are half hour for domestic, and an hour for international. Others are an hour for domestic and 2 hours for international. Read the fine print when you book it.

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. To be stripped and scrapped in time.

See, Shiv doesn't really care about traffic.

He just drives over everyone and gets to where he needs to go.

Would be quicker to dump the car & train it to the terminal from Blacktown

True, train would be quicker.

Change at Central for airport line and you're at the airport. Whole trip, Blacktown to airport, at that the would take maybe an hour?

Yeah was going to suggest this, if you can find a depot on the train line.

Just call Bronwyn Bishop and ask her to pick you up in her Heli.

Train would be cool if it was a day trip.

Im staying near Blacktown so I need a car to get to work.

Only option would be to train it to Blacktown area, then find a car out there?
