Not sure if this is in the right spot, sorry if it is but I got a check engine light come on then went out. It was only on for maybe 20 seconds then went out. I parked it later on I went out to give her a start and she started ran like normal. Should I be worried do  need to check for codes ? Thanks

It's worth checking for codes. You can get a bluetooth obd2 scanner for $6 on ebay.

Nah that wont work. Need to check codes with plugs under dash. Under steering column above pedals, connect the single wire set of white plugs and the set of green plugs.

Check engine light will flash a sequence. Long flash for first digit and short flash second digit of trouble code.

Eg: Flaaaash Flaaash Flaaaash Flash Flash would be code 32. There is a pause between seperate error codes. Reference the codes on Google and you will get the answer.

Keep the plugs connect and drive moderately to clear the ecu. Once the ECU is clear, CEL will flash rhythmically.

Depends a lot too on whether this is the first time you've seen it. Takes a couple of times in fault before some ecus will log the fault. I know the gen 3's take 3 times before it will log it. Pain in the arse trying to chase intermittent faults. Took me a week to find a dodgy cam sensor, because of this.
Hopefully it's logged one and it will spit out the number.

Cheers,
Ben

What won't work Jimbo? The code scanner?

I have one for my 3GEN and I even sometimes check the codes while driving the moment I see that blasted orange light.

This is a 99 GTB so Rev A. Dont think you can pull that information from the early ECU's. Red D-E has different ECU entirely.

Yeah your vin will be BH5*. The * will be A B or C. Being a 99, likely to be A or B.
