Hey guys,

Times come that I'm quite seriously considering going single conversion. Want to ask what your thoughts are on going with a vf30? I have access to one for half the usual price. Will spool be THAT much slower than a vf34? There's a lot of opinions on the Web around this. Also planning on equal length headers and a 3 inch down pipe (will any wrx year fit?).

Cheers
Pranav

Nb:If I do this my syms tt down pipes will be for sale so let me know if anyone is keen.

Its a couple hundred rpm behind the vf34 apparently

If you have a good price on a good turbo i wouldny worry about it...its a great turbo ;)

I had a VF30 on my old Gen1 turbo conversion. Awesome turbo with very linear response, would recommend.

I had a VF30 on my GC8.
It's a great turbo with full boost at around 3500 rpm.
It's a bit of a light switch which can be fun but it can also catch you off guard.
I found it a little annoying sometimes when I was going for a gap in traffic and the car wouldn't hit boost until it was through the intersection. But other than that, it was strong boost all the way to redline

Matt, you're probably right. It's been 2 years since I had it. Although E85 and MSR tune probably go a long way low-mid torque wise on your car.

I'd still go for the VF30 PeeKay. You can always sell off the 30 and pickup a 34 at a later date if the lag is an issue.
