Hi everyone,

I just picked up my liberty B4 one months ago with 140000km and later I found out there are a few common problems such as VOD and pinging issues that cause big end bearing failed. I am a bit worry coz this car is gonna be my daily :dash2: . I hope it will last for another 2,3 years

308,743.... Was still running, gear box exploded due to lack of oil from a leaking input shaft seal so I pulled the pin on the car.

Change oil frequently... 5000k's , upper engine clean every 10,000k's.

They are a "hands on" car.

Check frequently all your intercooler/turbo pipe hose clamps are in good condition & tight also.

Maintenance is the key.

Bought at 165000 km. Now has 195000 km in less than a year.
Saw one with 580,000 KM still going strong a couple of weeks ago. Was tempted to buy it.

My engine actually ate shards of metal from my blown turbo and lived to tell the story.

My B4 has 225k on her now, spec C motor has about 130ish thou. Still going strong. Bought it about 8 years ago with 155k on it.

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. To be stripped and scrapped in time.

this.

- Frequent oil changes with decent oil (search for recommendations. Delvac MX diesel/multi-fleet is recommended amongst others)

- regular upper engine cleaner - and Subaru fuel additive if you like

- keep an eye on oil contamination in the TMIC - take it off and give it a flush with petrol every couple of services
