I should just convert to single, right?As soon as she hands it to you, slowly take of your pants, then, while staring her straight in the eyes rub it against the tip of you penis, while continuing your painfully intense gaze whisper to her;

I put up with people from amnesty, red cross and now the cancer council almost daily hounding me!! Throw in the greens, green peace, unhcr, save the forking children and I've well and truly hit my limit for the number of fuckstains wanting me to sign something or give money. Seriously cubts, right off.

Getting a phone on a 24 month plan ends up being cheaper by $200+ than buying a phone outright and picking one of those BYO plans with similar plan features/limits... Interesting. I would've thought it'd be the other way round.

Yeah I could have told you that when I worked for Telstra, uh I mean, JB.
But hey, everyone thinks they know better than people that actually work for these companies.

I guess it's a way of securing a customer may be? I only compared the BYO plans of Optus and Telstra. I assume if you go with Yatango, Amaysim, Boost, etc, that's where you'd save the money.
My current contract runs out in February. What are the chances of getting that early exit fee waived?

The new car has been ordered! A white Outback Premium. Added front and rear sensors, tow pack, front tint, rear cargo step panel and mats.
I should have it mid October.

Sweet pickup SUBARU.
Gaz, depending on what you need, buying a phone outright and being on prepaid works out to be a better deal as it was for me.

True, but just from grabbing a few figures for the iPhone 6s for example, buying the handset from Apple and then choosing a $45 BYO plan with Optus ends up being $200-$205 more expensive than getting the same phone on a plan with Optus inclusive of the handset repayments. Another thing I cannot be bothered doing is always having to swap from reseller to reseller if they discontinue a certain plan and what not.
Are you making significant savings?

BYO plan is more for when you have your phone from your old plan and don't need a new phone yet. My wife is on BYO because she doesn't want or need a new phone, I'm going BYO when my contract ends because my phone will hold out. When it breaks I'll just go off grid and move to the jungle.
Buying a new phone outright is always exxy. If you buy a mid-range android you might save some coin.

I get more inclusions. For example if I was to get a new phone, which would be an Iphone 6s - the cheapest plan (since I'm not a power user) would be the $40 Vodafone Plan for 24 months. This will require me paying an additional $47 a month for the phone for a total of $87 a month - total minimum cost $2088.
This plan features 1GB Data, infinite calls and texts.
On the other hand, what I'm currently on is the $30 Combo pack which expires in 28 days - i.e. you need to recharge 26 times in a two year period.
This combo features 1.5GB data, infinite calls and texts - costing $780 over two years.
Iphone 6s is $1079 from apple so the total works out to be $1859
So comparing these two I save $229 + any other charges if i go over the limit on something in a plan and I get an additional 0.5GB of data...

Thanks for all the info. I made a few more calculations and it still seems better to get a plan, especially if I want a new phone. I'll look into Boost when I get home.

My phone cost $165 outright and $20 a month for 1GB and $550 in call credit.
Never get close to the limit and makes calls/ emails which is all I need.
Been on the same phone for about four years.
Happy.
The new car has been ordered!
Nice one Chris.
