So I found this bolt in my engine bay below where the top Mount would be and it was just sitting there unscrewed to anything but has a wire attached to the bolt. Any clues where it may have popped out from?

Is the bolt too short?

Did it screw in and you tightened it with a spanner?

Screwed it in by hand and then with spanner but looks like if you keep tightening it loosens up again. Threads might be dead.

The reason I believe RX25SE is asking is because.... the bolt that goes in that particular position is longer than the rest of the gearbox bell housing bolts.  I dare say that at some point the gearbox has been removed and the wrong bolt has been used for installation.  It could be it has stripped thread, but judging from the white marks on the bolt thread, it certainly looks like it's only just grabbing the thread and is in fact one of the shorter bolts.

Perhaps remove the next gearbox bolt along and compare lengths.  If it is the same length then it is definitely the wrong bolt.

IIRC, the longer starter motor bolt only fits in the very top 2 gearbox holes, so your search for the long bolt shouldn't take you too long.... if it's still in your car at all  ;)

throw it out and save some weight - it clearly wasn't doing anything useful.
