Yes that additional part is the reluctor ring for the crank sensor on EZ engines.

Next question with the starter.

So part number for a B4 starter is 23300-AA390 for an automatic gearbox.

Found a starter from a wreckers with the same part number for a forester SF5 turbo.

Will this work?

So update, in a long time.

First apologies are in order:

  • First to duncanm, I am so sorry for keeping your crane for more than a year, a heap of stuff has been happening and you are welcome to take it back anytime you want. I owe you another case of beer for your trouble and my lag. You have been a wealth of knowledge and I am deeply sorry that I have kept it way longer than I promised.
  • Second to everyone here, haven't been updating and everything keeps changing.

Without further a do, an update.

So with the parts, Importmonky has actually bought a whole B4 from the auctions in Japan in September, 80,000Km, Automatic. He stripped the whole car of parts and sending them over here.

It was meant to come here in october, but customs IN JAPAN, held it up for 2 months and it was shipped in december. Confirmed left Japan, probably here in Australia being held up by Australian Customs.

Yesterday, in the 37C Sydney weather underneath my very well insulated NEW garage.

I had a friend, Simon who's an mobile auto electrician (Funbox Auto) come over and help me get the ball rolling.

OxycPg1.jpg

The Plan for today was

  • Get the bulkhead harness out
  • Drop the front crossmember and suspension
  • Get the automatic tranny out.

Five hours later

Quite the experience having someone around who has actual experience on cars. With my small knowledge of subarus and Simon's wealth of mechanical knowledge we started at 11:30am finished at 4:30pm.

What I've learnt is that an extra pair of hands goes a long way.

Question time:

I am delifiting  the outback

v1EsjVE.jpg

Since I'm doing all the work of pulling it apart, I might as well delift it. I'm not planning to offroad it, just using it as a family car. I have found the delift post here on suby club http://www.subyclub....operly-inc-pns/

But as you can see in the image (one pair of parts is missing) I'm confused on which is the lift block? It came in three parts, where it had a block in the front, then the back and ontop of the crossmember.

Could someone please clarify which is which, so I know what to put back OR replace with liberty parts.

Next, If you take a look at the bulkhead harness, It looks smaller than alot of other posters in the forum pull out, is there another part of it that leads all the way to the fuel pump? Do I have to take that out or can I use it with the B4 harness I'm getting? Mind you its a H6 harness so maybe adaquate or fiddling with the plugs?

Tip:

If you dont have these, Get them, you'll thank me later.

It's finally here! After waiting, my engine has arrived on my driveway! 90,000kms and auto (sadly)

Having a little trouble getting it up the slope of my driveway, I want it off my driveway and in the garage, don't want to annoy the neightbours and strata but they've been cool with it so far.

I guess this is the VOD BBOD, I've been hearing about, will be looking forward of whats to come with this.

hey !  good to see this moving!

You mention a (singular) dump -- do you have the full pair of dumps ?  If not - you're welcome to my old OEM set for $50.

If you need a full exhaust -- I have one bolted up to it. It's nothing fancy, something like 2 1/4" to a 2.5" diffback. No center cat, either, but it sounds good :0

Good stuff m8,

The air box from the H6 can not be used, did you get a air flow meter or MAF as it is known as ??

Do a water pump and new thermostat also with the cam belt service.

I will pm you some pics of the air box soon.

I know duncan its finally moving! AGAIN I AM SO SORRY FOR HOLDING YOUR CRANE FOR SO LONG.

Haha, I'm mean the two dumps, that also collect into one pipe.

I will gladly take your exhaust :) Will it pass a blue slip though without the cat?

Hey man. I've got the crossmember bolts and rear subframe bits you can have if you're up for a drive to the central coast sometime.
Also, GD airbox is the same as the TT one. It might be easier to find one of those

yer - if they look, no.

It does have a center resonator which you might mistake for a cat.

If worst comes to worst, I'll just get a cat put in. Cheaper to have a stock exhaust and new cat put in, then having a custom exhaust made :)

Thank you again duncan :)
