Anyone planning on getting one when they're released? Stock or planning to mod?

They look like a hell of a car, I'm a bit disppointed with the CVT only drivetrain though - I'd be counting the silver coins in my piggy bank if it came in a 6 speed manual..

Was very interested until they announced auto only. Would have been on the waiting list if they came manual. I'll drive it when it comes out and see how it goes.

I put up with people from amnesty, red cross and now the cancer council almost daily hounding me!! Throw in the greens, green peace, unhcr, save the forking children and I've well and truly hit my limit for the number of fuckstains wanting me to sign something or give money. Seriously cubts,  :fork: right off.

Y'all need to go out and drive a CVT auto.

Seriously.

Go to a fricken dealer, and drive a CVT WRX or XT.

Then come back and report here.

The "new" 6 Speed manuals are far from a pleasure to operate.
back to the tiny gears of an old 5 speed, and cable operated shifting.

CVT as a technology is essentially infinitely programmable to do whatever the hell you want it to.
it's just up to the programmers to let you have it....

I drove a CVT on a 5hr round trip.

It's a gearbox.

It changes gears.

Enough said.

Big difference between the CVT in a Turbo and an NA.

And no, not enough said.

Robbks is 100% correct. New WRX 6speed in a narrowbody casing. Essentially an old 5 speed with a tiny sixth gear jammed in. Nothing nowhere near the awesomeness of an STi six speed. Piece of poop.

I am a 6speed diehard (The real STi sixspeeds, not the 5speed + 1 crap of nowadays) but the CVT is sure impressive.

drove a brand new WRX in manual back when they first came out. worst gearbox ever. Nothing felt good about it and i found it a let down for the entire car that put me off buying it.

Mate of mine has the CVT WRX and its actually an excellent gearbox, it delivers.

I wonder how much the CVT can handle 'shifting' under load.

Could it be programmed to keep the donk at peak power revs while accelerating, or does it need to be at a fixed ratio when channeling power through it?

Lots of possibilities with shifting -- and why just 6 ratio points chosen?

I believe there is 8 in the turbo. NA has 6 "gears".

Is this thing basically a Tuned by STI version of a Liberty wagon for 2016? (I haven't seen or read anything about it)

Not necessarily.

Currently, Australia has the Subaru Outback and a Subaru Liberty in the sedan variant only. The Subaru Levorg will be the wagon variant of the Subaru Liberty. Whether an STi model comes in or not is a different story again.

At least hoping we get the 2.0L donk.

Not sure what's confirmed yet.

CVT is weird, but it works. Also programmable, which is a plus.

I think some people just prefer driving a manual vehicle.

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

Levorg fills the void left empty by the traditional Legacy GT which has been shelved (not permanently, hopefully) and the hatch/wagon variant of the WRX which is also defunct. Though it's dimensions are more related to the Impreza.

By the time we get it, it'll be facelifted. CVT or not (though I do love me a fine stick shift) I would certainly be interested in one if the finances were available at the time.

I think that's all it comes down to. I am more an automatic driver than a manual one so having the CVT isn't the be all or end all. I personally haven't driven one either if that counts.

Its actually bloody good!

i drove one last time i was there.. Loved it and you know what..  i was so taken back i totally forgot about it being auto!

i honestly forgot what it was, because it was so much farken fun to drive! haha.

Hands down its the only car i would consider buying new myself at the moment.. if the aussie prices were competitive that is..
I havent looked at what we will get offered.. probably some shit 1.6 pov audm spec.. i drove the 2.0GT-S and it forking rocketed!

also, the  1.6 has a different cvt to the 2.0

its a sports version

i would wait till they release the real Revu Ogu in aus ;)

first series wil be shit here i think.
