Just a question, what is the standard turbo on a 2004 WRX STi (2.0 litre)?

Would this be a good upgrade for my 93 Liberty RS? (VOS chip & exhaust being the only engine modifications)

I may have an opportunity to buy one of a friend who has upgraded his STi. (119,000 kms)

Also will depend on type of vos chip you have (7 or 9 psi.) Will need to make sure the new turbo has the matching waste gate. Or you will have boost problems

Will be a twin scroll. You'll need twin scroll headers.

I thought the twin scrolls only came out on the 2.0 litre GT Liberty's.

Nope, the STi models had them as well.

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. To be stripped and scrapped in time.

Well there you go, it all sounds to hard to me, I'm really just after a bolt on solution with upgraded injectors and computer to run it all.

I thought there may have been an opportunity here to do something.

Thanks for your replies.

Twin scroll will only be on the jdm sti of that year? Is it an audm of jdm?

Most oem turbos only run a 7psi wastegate anyways
Just tell him to look at the little data plate and see what it says

Simplest upgrade is an early WRX TD05 which already has the alloy 90' front housing.
Add a manual boost controller, run 14-15 PSI on that VOS chip and be a happy camper...

I suggest a Walbro Fuel pump upgrade, and tidy up the intake piping if you can aswell.

go take a look and SEARCH at www.RSlibertyClub.org for EVERY answer you didin;t even know you had a question for.

there's a step by step "Path to Performance" guide in there too

Its an AUDM STi.

Cool, thanks.

I've already got the manual boost controller, walbro pump and gen 2 air intake/box, sounds like I just need the TD05.

Race tyres first :D

The car is currently getting the motor built, should be out of the shop in about a week or 2, so he will have it on him then.

Condition wise, all I know is the car has 119,000kms on it, well serviced, and was putting out 190kw to the wheels. Car did a big end bearing.

Can find out price for you, its located up Brisbane area.
