Subaru’s new generation All-Wheel Drive Outback has driven the model’s total sales to new heights, passing the 100,000 milestone in February.

Outback sold 869 last month, according to official VFACTS sales figures released today – taking the tally to 100,012 since the original crossover wagon launched in 1996.

Subaru’s Sports Utility Vehicle success was also underlined by sales of 1051 Foresters in February – up 124.6 per cent on the same month last year.

At the other end of the range, Subaru sports car sales remain strong, with WRX totalling 280 in February, up 14.8 per cent for the month.

Total Subaru sales of 3538 in February were up an impressive 9.8 per cent for the month, giving the brand a 3.7 per cent market share.

Subaru Australia Managing Director, Nick Senior, said: “New generation Outback has taken sales of this flexible, fun and safe family wagon to all-time highs.

“Staggering is the fact that almost 13 per cent of the total sales have come in the last 14 months, confirming that Fuji Heavy Industries (the make of Subaru vehicles) has designed and developed the perfect SUV for Australian families.

“The combination of tremendous value, comprehensive specification and great engineering is proving irresistible to buyers and is bringing many new customers to Subaru too.

“Only last week the Outback 2.5i Premium was named Australia’s Best All-Wheel Drive Sports Utility Wagon under $50,000 by the nation’s motoring organisations – that’s a great endorsement from the most discerning and objective judges in the country.”
