Anyone know if the back light color is changeable (even if it has to be modified) on the BH/BE STi Genome boost gauge or the green hue is part of the construction?

Thanks.

Yes it can, but is pretty tricky, you need to pry the bezel off and can change the led colour

Gauge is apart, quite easy actually.

The face background is tinted green but that was easily removed with some citris spray so is now clear.

Unfortunately the surface mount LED's are green also. Next step is remove and replace with some white ones.

Gauge deconstruction. Not particularly hard but not for the faint hearted either.

Waiting on delivery of the smd white LED's to swap in place of the green ones.

Yes but you also have to remove the green tint from the back of the gauge face also.

I have the LED's now and got a .5mm tip for my soldering iron today. Will change them out over the weekend.

Crap pic but gauge is winning. Nice clear white back lit, not too bright.

20160723_093603_zpspmojgtg7.jpg

The plug that it would usually connect to is used by the auto headlights. Thankfully the gauge came from Japan with the female plug and tails so I removed all pins not required and piggy backed it to the existing wiring.
