Hi guys,

Just joined, so please go easy on me :-)

I recently got my mother a new MY 2016 Liberty/Legacy. It comes with the auto stop-start system and I thought I had it figured out. Basically, when your foot is all the way down the brake, the engine should shut off, and then reignite as the brake gets released.

When demonstrating how it works for her, there were a few instances where auto stop-start did not engage. I can't quite detect the pattern of when it works, and when it doesn't.

Is there more that the car looks for apart from just the brake pedal?

Cheers!

Note: the intermittance of this issue was from a single driving session, with no changes to drive modes.

Brilliant! Thanks for pointing me to the correct info. Sounds like gradient was the key factor here.
