Hi guys, having a few issues with the GTB at present.
Problem: rough~ish idle, and heavy fuel consumption 16/100

Sometimes accelerating under normal driving at 2.5-4k rpm it just hesitates really bad(pop clutch rev and try again, and it accelerates normal)

Troubleshooting so far:

*Checked ECU, no codes at all

*replaced AFM

*Smoke tested intake and tmic pipework, no leaks

*Earths are good, and have extra

*Alt is pumping out 14.4V with no issue

*New plugs gapped to 0.8(6 heat range)

*Confirmed all coils are good and providing spark(replaced them just to make sure)

Under WOT is absolutely hauls ass, but idle and low load its becoming annoying.

Any idea's fellas, and before you say convert to single etc, i am, just not yet, i need this to drive normal for ~6 months before the car turns street monster.

Fuel consumption is normal dude. Mine chows down at about 15/100.

Have you tried cleaning up the IACV? Mine had a shit idle, cleaned the gunk out of it and it came good.

I refuse to believe its normal mate, under highway conditions it should be 9-10L/100.
It is acting like an air leak, but i am yet to find one, this weekend im going to do the bypass mod, and clean every single BBOD solenoid, and re-plumb them with new vac hose.
God i hate TT's, its such a stupid system, but im going to work this out because i dont have the funds and parts yet for the full conversion.

Any more idea's, im happy to hear them

Its giving the correct voltage, and no ecu code.
But doesnt explain the hunting idle, ill change it because i have 15 of them, worth a shot i guess

Ive had hunting issues on two previous Subaru's.

One was a dodgy afm (you've changed that) other was a dodgy IACV. Cleaned but still hunted. Replaced and idled perfectly.

16 certainly isn't right.

I get ~9.5 on the hwy (verified with a recent trip to Melbourne and back) - and that's with ~5% lower outback gearing.

City is usually about 12 - taking it pretty easy with the odd squirt and a fair bit of peak hour traffic.

I've never had worse than 14.

I'd be checking the IACV, too.. though I thought it should be fully shut off when above ~1k or so.

Maybe check the temp sensor, too - could be running on cold/rich all the time.  Would explain spluttering and consumption.

Probably easiest to plug into the SSM.

According to the list of ECU and engine codes,  RevA only ran to 11/98

presumably some minor differences -- but mainly ECU code (/tune?) I think.

So Basically an MY99 EJ205 with a second silly turbo on it..

Is the 02 sensor in those in the headers or the primary dump?

But the MY99 is notorious for blocked and clogged IACV stepper motors

Rob, EJ206. Geez.

O2 is in the headers, same as gen2.

Have you done any ecv adjustments at all?

Exhaust flap may be open at idle wasting exhaust gas, spooling secondary too early.

No ecv yet.
But previously to bypass mod it ran 20psi.
I have an avcr might install it.
Any hints on tt setup with it ?
