Hi guys,
I picked up a 02 H6 outback last week. I can here a ticking noise when it's idling which is coming from the left side of the motor. I don't believe I can here it when accelarating more so when stationary.
Cars done 166k. Serviced 1k ago.
I've had a bit of a look around and came up with it maybe the timing chain tensioner ??
I'm hoping someone may be able to shed some light as to what it may be.

these engines rely on good oil and frequent oil changes to prolong the life of the timing chain . oil feed holes etc ... maybe give it a engine flush and another oil change .
