Just wondering people's thoughts on what I should get.
Looking at either demo/2016 or new depending on price.
Just came from a 2.5l Outback (written off via a kangaroo) and 2.5l Liberty before that.
My driving over a year is probably around 70 per cent suburban, a little dirt road and say 6 bigger trips that are mostly NSW ski fields (1000km round trip)
Will I appreciate the extra grunt which I'll obviously have to pay for or will it be wasted on me for the price difference and the driving I do?

I'd take the 3.6, it really makes the car feel better.
Drive both and see how you feel.
Fuel consumption would not be something I consider, mostly because of this :

Youd be on the throttle more with the 2.5 and use more fuel. 3.6 will drive much easier and use less fuel as a result

Just remember there's no manual option, CVT only. Apparently the 3.6 with the CVT behind it is quite good.
