Hi all, This may sound a little strange but will 16' rims from a 2002 Lib RX fit on a 2002 WRX? The reason is a bloke wants to buy my rims for his rex so he has a greater choice of rally tyres but he's not sure if they will fit over the 4pots. I think they wont fit but can anyone confirm this. Thanks J

The bloke came over anyway to try a rim on his bugeye and guess what, they didn't fit. The caliper hits the back of the spoke. But for anyone interested, they almost fit. All you would need are some wheel spacers (at a guess about 5-6mm) and longer studs to match. Cheers J

or grind the calliper a bit. i was measuring some 4pots on a STI at work the other week and 4pot would probably fit under my wheels if i could get like 2mm shaved from the rear of all the spokes so damn close... had me thinking now lol my spokes are quite deep... would that be safe to have done? (professionally of course by a machinist so that they are all perfectly even and balanced)

nah.

i wouldn't bother.

you'll be compromising the structural integrity of the wheel, and if it came to an accident, and they discovered upon replacing your wheel that you have modified your previous wheels to suit, you'd be void of any insurance.

just stick on wheels that fit.

its bodgey mods like this that'll land you in strife.

best to avoid ones like these, and spend the coin on decent wheels and tyres.

grinding the calipers a couple of mm wouldn't hurt though... but i wouldn't do it.

+1

i wouldn't be f**king around with "modding" wheels to much. it's bound to be trouble. If you really had to use them use spacers...

Andy shaved the corners off his brembos so he could fit a set of wheels on. he touched them up with a brembo touch up pen and they look fine

+2 Yep, don't mess with the rim. I forgot to mention that spacers can only be used if the vehicle was originally fitted with them, in Victoria anyway. Cheers J

why not just use 97 on wrx rims? 16 inch and clear 4 pot front and 2 pot rears.

Well the most common Tyre size for rally is 15" and WRX 4pots will not clear at all. So i have no idea why he is running 16's as i dont think there is a 16" rally tyre

Unless you run an aftermarket brand of brakes (AP racing etc)

He want to go 16" as he can't get any decent 17" rally tyres to fit the oem rims.
Yeah 15" would be the go but as you say, no way will fit over the 4pots.

Cheers

ok cool i thought it was worth a shot, but i know what everyone means about wheel structure and insurance and such. i just like my wheels and didnt really wanna go bigger, spacers im not a fan of. but i keep getting offered 4pots for really cheap and its hard to say no lol.
