Hey guys i got one of my dream cars on Monday the 2003 b4 liberty GT with the ej20 turbo. I started it up this morning an the engine appears to be having this strange off time ticking noise. It has almost 200ks but is in imaculate condition, ive gave her a bit of stick here an there but not an absolute flogging. Dosent sound like the piston slapping ive been looking at. Any help would be appreciated

Probably just noisy injectors.

I remember when I heard a ticking noise it was my coil packs. Check and see if that’s your issue

Is it a late Gen3 B4 Twin Turbo you have or an early Gen4 Liberty GT? Your description is kinda vague.

If it's a twin turbo, it's possible the ECV is loose and flapping a bit or it could be a loose heat shield over the exhaust.

Does the sound eventually go away?

When you say it's not running right, can you elaborate? 

Knowing exactly what car it is helps us alot, too.
