Gday guys..
I have an issue with my 04 Foz XT..
It has a Aeroflow Electronic Boost controller fitted..
When the turbo comes on boost, the red light light on controller gauge flashes and makes a beeping sound..
As soon as that red light comes on..the turbo basically cuts out..
Turbo is a TD04L..
Boost come on around 2500rpm and cuts instantly..
Does this sound like a controller issue or something to do with the turbo itself?
Appreciate your time guys

Sounds like the ecu is probably preventing you from melting the engine. You need to get it tuned for a boost controller

Thanks Barbbachello..
An engine tune was done when the boost controller was fitted..
Everything was done by previous owner, but I have receipt showing when new turbo was fitted, the engine was tuned and the turbo lines were flushed as well as turbo gaskets replaced..
Cheers mate

Take it back to the shop where it was done and ask them about it

yeh - the turbo isn't 'cutting out' - the ECU is probably doing fuel cut due to overboost.

Can you turn the EBC below eleventy?  Or maybe just run wastegate pressure to diagnose.

First - check the plumbing between the EBC pressure sensor, turbo and wastegate solenoid - it may just be a line that's leaking or fallen off.

Aeroflow have an instruction sheet - https://www.aeroflow...d/AF49-1030.pdf

Duncanm..
You have no idea how much I appreciate you providing link for my EBC..
You went above and beyond and I thankyou ..
The boost controller seems to be on 8psi for Boost 1 and Boost 2
The Hi Boost is set at 6
No idea what any of that means, but they are the settings..
The red light doesn’t come on in Park..only when car is driving along and just above 2500rpm
Everything was done by a mobile mechanic for previous owner..but I feel this issue is also, affecting the fuel consumption that considering has to be premium unleaded and down here costs around 166.9 a litre is starting to kill me..lol
I get around 390 to 415 every tank..and I definitely don’t drive her hard, live semi rural and no traffic lights all the way to town which is about 30min drive..
I just want it running right..is there a way to cheaply reset the ECU or something similar ?
Thank you so much guys

Definitely sounds like the ecu is protectig the engine. I highly doubt a mobile mechanic has tuned the ecu. Best thing for now would be to revert it to wastegate pressure by running a vacuum line directly to the wastegate actuator from the turbo vacuum nipple

Rob,

those settings (6 and 8psi) are just fine.  You only see the problem above 2500, because the turbo needs higher revs to spool and make boost.

As I said - It is very likely to be the plumbing around the boost control sensor or wastegate is damaged.  I bet a case of beer a line has fallen off.

It'll be pretty straightforward to identify and fix -- make sure the plumbing is connected like the 'actuator system' diagram in that doc I linked.

If you have zero mech knowledge or aptitude (that's ok, we're all lacking in many different skills :) ), then maybe take it to your local mechanic, or a friend who knows a little. Even if they don't know turbo cars, they can follow that diagram.

Just spend some time following the small rubber tubes to and from the turbo, and see they're all connected and aren't damaged or leaking.  Don't go re-plumbing things if you don't know what you're doing.

Appreciate your time guys..
I will get that looked at on Monday and see if we can find the culprit..
If it is the wastegate actuator..I can purchase one of them for a TD04...correct?
