Gday guys..
I really didnt expect to be posting as much as I have ,but unfortunately my 04 Foz XT has proven to be a little troublesome ..
I dont think she was very well looked after by the previous owner, and now I am trying to tick them for the list because I love this car and just want a reliable daily..
My latest problem is a violent vibration from the rear diff area when making tight turns at low speeds..
If anyone has experienced this issue and can give me a heads up on what it might be,that would be much appreciated..
The rear and front diff oil have just been changed..
Cheers in advance guys

Is it an auto or a manual ??

Could be something to do with the centre diff maybe.

Centre diff sounds like it's toast.

While I don't have personal experience with this issue, what you describe is basically what I've read as the symptoms on other forums.

Replace the centre diff and always ensure your tyres are wearing evenly and run at the correct pressure on all corners ;)

Cheers

It is an auto..
How many bloody diffs does this car have..lol
I thought it only had a front and rear differential?
Is the centre diff a pain in the ass to replace?
Cheers guys

Dunno a lot about autos, but I understand you can pull the AWD fuse to make it basically FWD and diagnose... pull it and see if behaviour changes.

Autos don't have the viscous center diff that manuals do ... they engage an AWD clutch-pack with electro-trickery.

Maybe its a binding CV, or rear diff?  Does it clunk on/off throttle? If so, could be as simple as diff bushes

Confirms its the centre diff id think. If the autos are anything like the manual centre diff its doable with the gearbox still in the car. I could be wrong though

yeh I think it confirms center diff?  I'm not sure here.  Sounds like its locking in AWD when it shouldn't be.

Try flushing with new tranny fluid and see if things improve.

So by centre diff..do you mean Front Diff that seems to be connected to the transmission?
Or is there another part you are referring to?
Is it possible to leave it in FWD mode for a month or 2?..or is that too much load on the front diff?
Apparently having it in FWD mode helps with fuel consumption also

Center diff at back of the gearbox

Have you put any more thought into squeezing some more power out of the engine. Like strapping on one of those intake fans
