Hi all,

 

First time posting in the forum.

 

I recently (last Thursday) bought myself a Gen 3 Outback with the premium pack and the single zone climate control.

 

I'm wanting to upgrade the OEM stereo to a 2 din touchscreen unit with GPS, Bluetooth and reversing camera.

 

The problem I'm having is that I want to make sure it still has a nice fascia while retaining the climate control switches, but I understand that I simply can't pull out the old stereo and replace it because the A/C controls are part of the head unit.  The fascias available come with the A/C control built in and cost around $900.  This is way beyond my budget.  There are the standard fascias around that don't have the A/C controls built in.

 

So, my questions are: -

 

1. Can the A/C controls be separated from the stereo head unit? If not,

 

2. Are the A/C controls available as a stand alone unit?  And where would I find them?

Hi and welcome to Subyclub.

 

Just buy a s/hand double din fascia, it will come with the a/c controls,

Seen these go for around $300 s/hand.

 

You stated that you have a gen3 outback, that is sort of correct,

but most people will call your car a gen4.

If you missed the 07 part in the heading, peeps will give you the wrong info,

Just something to keep in mind.

So, the double din fascia is available with just the A/C controls?

 

I'm happy to cut down the fascia I have if I can get the controls separately.
