Hi all, my cars cel just came on but last few days before it did it was idling rough as and low to the point of stalling it would also lose power and puff some blackish smoke out exhaust. When the cel came on i had a mate give it a rev while i was by the exhaust and i noticed a rotten egg smell. What would be causing this any info is appreciated.

Cheers
Jono

Probably need model and engine info before you get any help.

idling rough, blackish smoke, no power.

You have an intake leak post-turbo.

Rough idle - intake leak
Black smoke - over-fuelling when boost escapes (MAF sensing more air than is going into the engine).

Either that, or a plug/coilpack has gone bad.

Pull your plugs and check them, if they are equally black, then suspect intake.

Oh, and pull the engine code -- it might actually give you clues.

Damn i just got it tested and fixed for leaks in the engine bay though, new coil pack and plugs done too. Had it tuned aswell not long ago too. Well its going into the shop tomorrow for full scan and getting the mid cat ripped out and a 2.5" or 3" cat back straight pipe put on. Hopefully gets sorted. Thanks for the info chaps
