Well I decided that I didn't have enough shit around my place so just bought myself a 2001 Bugeye WRX to play around with.

I am going to set it up for track and motorkhana and spend as little as possible on it, but hopefully have some fun with my kids with it.

 

From what I can gather it has had a chequered past and needs some love, I can organise that.

 

What are some low cost good bang for buck mods to do on it ?

I would love to convert it to a later model front end but I'm thinking it won't be cheap, but honestly as long as it goes OK, stops and steers OK I'm happy.

 

Looking forward to HVC20.....some teasing perhaps.....

Strange my wife says the same thing.

Maybe a bigger turbo/ Dump pipe and exhaust then a tune.

HVC20 needs to happen, somehow.

Track and motorkhana you say?

Strip the carpet and sound deadening out of it. Replace all the mounts with something harder. Bigger sway bar on the rear. Decent front seats. Quick rack.

Depends what club you are tracking with, I don't think the WRX club will let you run in street class with a stripped out interior.

Great advice, thinking of all suspension bushes to urethane as well.

What I know about it so far is it has an exhaust, not sure what or how big, but has split dump pipe.

Not sure if turbo is stock or not yet, has STi rear wing and that's about it, oh and it leaks eater in the boot LOL, so plenty to do.

Bugeye onwards ecu are fully tunable.

If its stockish itll be a TD04. For motorkhana one of the smaller VFs would be good. VF24/28/29/35

Set of STi pinks, STI turbo and intercooler with the exhaust and a tune would be some healthy gains. Being an 01 it probably has the rubbish 3.54 ratio box and a 4.44 setup makes them way better
