All, I'm after a decent car cover. I don't mind paying a bit extra to make sure it's a good brand and to make sure it doesn't damage or stick to my paintwork. Anyone have any suggestions or experience in this area? The car will be kept outside, but mostly undercover out of direct sunlight. Thanks, Alex.

Ugh i could ramble on for forking days about this stuff.

I wouldn't mind a car cover either, when i'm on site for work etc. Even if it's in the garage,

But if you keep it outside under a car cover there will always be some people who say "hmm i wonder what nice car is under there, I'll check it out"

This will be in my backyard for the Lib, which I dont drive during the week, so it'll be undercover for like, 5 days at a time. It's mostly to stop the stray cats that enjoy marking their territory on my bonnet, and just to stop general dust/crap getting on it.

Ugh i could ramble on for forking days about this stuff.

I use car covers, under cover, in the garage. I used to cover my car outside (many years ago) with a 'weather proof' cover. Car rusted like fcuk. And the wind made the cover rub the paint from the edge of the mirrors. Dont cover it outside. Hit it with polish and wax every now and then instead.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Yeah i had a supposed weather proof one with my old commodore, but it was out in the sun. Ruined the paintwork.

Yeah, car covers for outside are dumb. I reckon the best kind of cover you could get woud consist of business shirts sewn together.

Outside in general.

They scratch your paint and if it's humid, can make your paint "sweat", causing cracks which in turn causes rust.
Sure, this process takes time, but why start the process.

As Jason said, you're better off giving it a good wash and polish regularly and also getting one of those windscreen cover things.

I've only ever had one car cover and that was for my old Merc that lived in the garage.
