Please note that the NSW RTA in their wisdom have decided to protect us further by implementing new fixed cameras which catch red light offenders AND speeders. These new cameras are simply advertised as a "Safety Camera" but have this new dual role, it's still unclear to me whether they carry the correct warning signs in advance like a speed camera has to, most probably they have created some new legislation to get around that though. Apparently according to the RTA people speed through an intersection to avoid getting caught by a red light, so now they will be nicked for speeding instead. So prepare for an increase in rear end collisions as people slam on those brakes to avoid a speeding fine and a red light camera fine. Whilst I do not support either situation as speeding and running red lights is a dangerous practice, all this will do IMHO is cause people to brake unnecessarily hard which will be more dangerous than going through an orange light at 10k over the limit. Full article here for your enjoyment, and there are already 50 of the 400 implemented NOW, beware ! http://www.rta.nsw.g...d=safetycameras

So... fair enough, that sucks. What I want to know is are they a speed camera ONLY when lights go orange, or are they a permanently mounted speed camera as well (catch speeders at all times, regardless of lights)? If so, that's a hell of a lot more speed cameras that have gone up.

From what I have seen of the one near work (vic), they will detect speeding regardless of light colour.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

I think the people that make laws in this country need to join that new show on TV, Tool Academy. I think that would be right. Paul

Most modern speed cameras for the last couple of years are flashless infra-red cameras.... ;)

Hence one of the superiorities we as New South Welshman have held, over your Victorians up until now.

Our beer is still better.
