hmmmm
is there any way of telling it's actually the core and not just a hose?
My 98 foz has the fog/wet carpet/hissing-pissing syndrome. Bypassed the heater with about a metre of hose round the air cleaner (no kinks) - a piece of piddle.
BUT what I'm dreading is dash out to replace thecore.
Ive taken out the quick n easy stuff (radio, console, glove box etc)
When asked, the most common answer to my queries re dash out is
"it's a c**t......hmmmm
given the amount of stuff i've removed so far, is it worth persevering with, or should I just drop it off to Rossco and pay him to do it?
It's my daily drive, so a minimum of fuss is in order...
Ideas, crew?

How handy are you with a spanner?

Do you have a couple of other pairs of hands to help you?

I haven't tackled this myself, but from what I had gathered about it (I was about to do it myself, thankfully it was something else for me, so I didn't need to change my heater core) it's a filthy slunted rat mole of a job.

It's not that bad. People who whinge about having to sit behind a car for 5mins at a petrol station waiting to get fuel would find it tedious.

It's not the worst job to do on a Subaru BY FAR. Budget 3-4hours going slow on your first time.

thanks guys
@Alex -yeah I'm half reasonable, but I do have Australian hands not Japanese ones so if it's at all claustrophobic I'll lose skin
@Marv - 3-4 hours is magic - I spend more time than that waiting for fish...lol

I guess what I need to know is
a) can I f*** it up
B) will I end up throwing said spanners?
c) can it be any more frustrating than removing a BMW LT bike fairing?
d) is there a better guide/manual than the Subaru one? Its useless.
