I've been thinking about getting some of these for the RX for a while. A mate of mine is going overseas and wants to bring some back for his BMW as he can get them cheaper, and he is happy to bring back a second set for me. So I got looking. Checked a catalogue from 2007.....nothing. Only GenII. Looked up the Koni and Toperformance websites......nothing. Only GenIV. What the... Is it just me or do they not make them for a GenIII?? Does anyone know if they are/were available for the GenIII Liberty/Legacy? I would prefer the standard oil type, not the 'in car adjustable' gas type. I have had Konis in cars before and have found them to be excellent.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Jas, if they fit a gen2, then they should fit straight into the gen3. Someone please correct me of I'm wrong!

Cheers Chris but they only list the key adjustable gas type, and I would much prefer the 'D' type oil shock.

Thanks for the tips guys. I'm actually not wanting to get too carried away here, after all this car is used mostly by the missus as taxi for the kids. The reason I thought Koni was I may be able to get them quite cheap, and I have used them before and always been very happy with the outcome. I would like to keep the ride pretty much as it is and I am happy with the rate of the stock springs but to me it feels as if the shocks could be a little better. To be honest I have never been a fan of Bilstien *covers head with arms and runs like fcuk* as from memory they are gas filled. Perhaps this attitude is jaded as it's obvious that Subaru and Bilstien work together on suspension tune. I'm sure Bilstien and Tein/Pink would work well but the firmer ride and greater cost is not the path I wish to take.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

I had the standard springs on the Billies and the ride was a little firmer than stock, but was not rough at all. The stock springs also did not lower the car at all, so there may have been a bit more "travel" available as a result. You can get different types of tein springs too. You don't have to lower the car as they offer springs that will only slightly drop it (to the tune of a few mm) and are specifically tuned to run with the Billies. The ride as I said, wasn't harsh or hard. It gave the car a very direct feel on the road and made it corner like a demon. I found mine on ebay for cheap and they often come up on import monster too. You can opt for the sedan shocks, or the wagon shocks - they are the same!

Cheers Chris. I'll keep this in mind (esp. eBay=cheap!) but I'll see how thing go. I should try to go for a spin in different cars to suss them out. Spew you sold yours! I actually have another set of stock springs (eBay for $0.99!!) so I can reset the front to a lower height and keep the same rate. For 99cents it's worth a try. :P

Yeah, it is a shame, you could have tested it out! Good idea with the .99c stock springs... I've also got some OEM struts and springs sitting in the garage if you run out of other options.
