A questions relating to the early Forester front end here:

A mate owns the 97/98 Forster 'Limited' in the pic below.
I was at a wreckers/auto dismantlers on Sat and saw a GT Forester half cut with a black honeycomb mesh grille and the 'f' badge on it.
I only had a quick look at it but it may have been from the later SF models (early 00's).

My question is, will this grille fit on my mates Foz? He's keen to get the sexy new grille but im not sure if there were any subtle changes between the models just in case? (Similar to the Rev ABC to the Rev DE of the Gen3 Lib).
Thanks

I'm pretty sure it might not.. Our resident forrester expert Nik- skillionaite will confirm.. Why doesn't your mate just change the badge?

Gave the wreckers a call and turns out the grille is off a 97-99 Foz. Will be a perfect fit! Score!

Very nice, I like the look of these! :) Is it a JDM thing or factory option in Aus?

I have a feeling it is a JDM grille. Came off a GT half cut.

The F badge is a JDM thing, similar to the L7 badge on the Leggy.

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.

Each to their own! The old one is so plasticy!?
Changing the badges isnt as easy as it looks either. The 'F' badge is not just stuck on like the oval star badge, it has 4? prongs which secure it to the grille and it would look incredibly out of place over the top of a blank oval space!

Hi, The F is definitely the JDM grill badge. Very nice find, hard to tell from that photo but it does look like a full genuine JDM grill. That's what the front of my car looked like. :( Lookin' good. Cheers, Nik PS: FORESTER.

Good find, the badge alone is worth $80 and I like the mesh grille.
Because stopping never optional.

This was a sexy looking Foz. Sold it a few months ago now and bought this...

However he did end up getting the GT bonnet from the half cut that the grille originally came from
