Hi guys, in my recent Gen4 acquisition I have noticed that when the climate control is turned off I still get air flowing through the vents in the dash. Even when turning the climate control on, and selecting recirculating air, then turning the climate control off it turns the airflow off for a couple of seconds and then turns it back on. Is this a Gen4 thing or is there something not right ? The only way I can find to stop the airflow is to set the mode to whatever I want, then set air to recirculate and leave the fan off, but the climate control must stay on to achieve this. In my gen2 you just set the flow to recirculate then turn the climate control off, and the airflow stayed off. Thanks Paul

Same as the Foz XT I have Paul. It's done it from day 1 and is a real pain especially when it blows hot air in. I've pulled the glove box out and watched all the arms move when I change the air flow from feet to screen and nothing seems wrong. None of the earlier Subi's I've owned have done it and it's a bit of a mystery to me too.
As Tony Montana would say:
In this country, you gotta make the money first.
Then when you get the money, you get the power.
Then when you get the power, then you get the women.

I'm pretty sure that when I turn my climate control off it stops the air flow all together. When it is switched off, you can actually press the fresh/recirculate button to control whether you want fresh air blowing in, or none at all if the system is switched off. Try that and let us know if it works. OTher than that, I usuall leave mine switched on all the time and set somewhere between 22 and 24, unless I have the window down of course.

i get a similar constant airflow through the vents problem in the sherpa. the lack of an "off" button in this model would be the source of my trouble though

I like a bit of airflow and if i want air when the climate control is off (blank screen) i have to hit the mode button to get it (lights up with which vent its coming out of, but no fan, temp etc info). MY07 Outback. Was same same in the B4.

Thanks for the replies guys, just hitting the recirculate button did the trick thanks, although I really think that if you turn the climate control off it should be off ! Regards Paul

Hi, They all do it, unless the car is on recirc the air still flows. Painful. Mine runs warm as well until I turn the air con on to blast the warm air through, that's a real pain in the ass. Cheers, Nik

Ok just checked, get slight airflow until i hit the recirc button which cuts it completely. But if i hit the mode button to select a vent (still no fan) i get more airflow. And as with Nic and my old B4, when i jump into it after its been parked for a while its blows hot air and needs the a/c to cool it.
