Hi Everyone,

For the past week or so my car has been struggling to start, but randomly it starts really well,

I'm not sure if it's the Alarm being annoying or if it's the battery or my car just being stupid,

This is when it struggles:

It also struggles for longer than this sometimes, until the lights on the dash go out.

This is this morning, freezing cold morning and left overnight:

This video isn't working for some reason, but it starts striaght away.

What's a good car battery to get? I think it's on the end of its life.

I find these excellent.

If you get more than four years from any battery, your doing well.

i paid $90 for a Kmart Special

Does the job for me.. 2 years and still going strong, have left the car all night with the sub and amp going and in the morning she cranked over fine lol
and it still holds charge nicely.

I agree though at $300 for one of the Optima batteries i would hope it lasts atleast 8 years.

i dont think you need one unless you are running some fairly in depth car audio.

also DONT use what they recommend in the books for the Libs! go for the biggest size you can fit in the battery holder and just make sure the terminals are on the correct side and the correct size (unless you have changed terminals)

On the topic of batteries would a dying, damaged battery cause my stereo to play up. e.g. Situation 1 - Driving with headlights on, and then putting the brakes on, sound will cut for a seccond as the brake lights come on. Situation 2 - Turn Stereo up, Bass pumps, sound cuts at peak of bass...if loud enough can cause stereo to turn off and come back on. I have checked charge with engie running and get 14ish volts. Battery looks new though and the little sight glass shows green. No problems starting. Though cleaning the car with the stereo running can kill the battery pretty fast. Sorry to highjack :) If you dont want it here let me know, ill start a new post ;)

Usually with the car running you shouldn't run into issues like that, although it does sound like your battery is on the fritz. check your terminals though! allot of problems can be resolved by getting a better connection.
