I have 2010 Outback diesel. It's 2 months old. I want to have a towbar fitted. Subaru quoted $1087. The local Hayman Reese dealer quoted $850ish, or another $150 if it needs an ECU. That takes it to almost the same price as the Subaru dealer wants.
Does anyone know if my car is likely to need an ECU? The guy selling them didn't know whether it would or not.

Hey i have ordered my new outback diesel don't have it yet though , cant answer your ECU question but the $1,087 charge for supply and fitting of towbar can be negotiated. I negotiated it down to around $950-970 ish when i bought the car. So go back to the dealer who sold you the car! Screw them! lol
