Hey guys,

Just got a call from the mechanic saying my heritage with 84,000k's (Gen 2) has a cracked head =[

Trying to way up my Options...

The car is immaculate so thinking of doing a conversion, its just a matter of what to put in.

I can get a GTB-TT front cut for about $2,200 or there is a V4 Sti for $3,600

Im trying to stick with a budget of under $5k finished engineered and ready to drive, do you think this is achievable?

Will be doing all the mechanical with my brother Scott - hes the one with the Blue V7 Sti conversion and Bug eye STI.

I figure the TT will be a much easier plug & play conversion... but am waying up paying the extra 2-3k now for a single turbo sti?

For and Against?

Thanks guys

Gen2 head/head gaskets are from what i can tell a fairly common problem

I say sti conversion, especially if you can do a lot of the mechanical side yourself :)

but im heavily biased :D

TT would be easier i suppose with wiring etc (yet Al at AMauto can mod a loom up easy enough......but ive heard too many headaches about the twins....then again ive heard the V4 sti motors supposedly go bang very easy?? (just what ive heard?)

Does your mechanic have the heads off the car? Normally you remove them and send them out for crack testing.
Im with the others and guessing a blown head gasket (same symptoms as a cracked head) as they are common.
Most alloy heads can have cracks repaired sucessfully without the need to replace them. This would be bar far the cheapest option if you just want to get it running again.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

mechanic said it could be cracked head as it only overheats after a long period of driving time after temperature is reached, which still could be the headgasket anyways

either way it overheats like a biatch
i have a 2.5L motor we could put in in no time so fixing this motor is not really an option and the car is probably going to be converted anyways

Put Scott's other ej207 in it, they seem to work well in a gen2 :D

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.
