Hey guys,

More questions.

Sick of my stupidly loud gay piece of shit tappets. Tried everything to fix them bar remove and replacement of them. I had a read in my Haynes manual about removing them but all it has is on cam and valvetrain removal not just the lifters so that didn't REALLY give me an idea on how hard it would be. How hard is it to do in the car? Do i just clean them out or replace them? Also, anything else worth doing whilst im in there if i do it? Obviously rocker cover gasket but anything else? Also, how much are new tappets? Hundreds or?

Thanks guys,

Ash

This may sound silly.

I remember hearing ages ago that some Subys suck in air through the oil pump seal (cam belt driven)which aerates the oil causing the lifters to start tapping.
Maybe do the oil pump seal aswell?

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Agreed.

It's what happened on my old L series.

Replaced oil pump seal, and was silent afterwards.

Worth a crack, seals are cheap, and makes for a challenging saturday afternoon!

Oh yeah, forgot about that issue. How hard are those things to do? Certainly will give that a crack. Has anyone heard of a gen 2 suffering from this?

Thanks fellas.
