Not worth the bother.

It'll most likely require replacement of the ECU, as the transmission's computer (TCU) is contained within it.

Sell car. Buy manual.

Or just enjoy the auto.

You have buttons on your steering wheel to change gears.

I think that's pretty cool.

I also looked into this ages ago. Can't even begin to mention how many changes needed.

Nothing left to break .

Was looking into this also before a conversion.

You lose ABS or Cruise control and likely will have a high idle as the ECU thinks you still have a torque converter talking to the TCM(transmission control module).

There are ways around this, probably by swapping every component of ABS pumps(auto & manual are apparently different) / Cruise etc from a donor car and changing the ECU.

But really I dont think its worth the headache tbh.

Don't bother. It was a big enough hassle converting a HQ tonner from auto to manual. Thinking about doing it on a B4 makes baby jesus cry.

Is it about the same amount of hassle to do this on a 92 liberty 2wd??
Thinking of doing it as i alreay have everything from the rear end but still need a donor car that i can swap everything else gearbox wise from.

Mate, doing it on the earlier ones isn't as much of a hassle, talk with Mark (Crusin) and Aaron.W about it. Aaron converted his from fwd to awd, but stayed manual- Mark did auto to manual. I think Aaron did his gen2 with ease.

Mate, if you have a donar car it should be easy as piss because you have all the parts there you need for a direct swap!

The hardest thing of the conversion is finding every part you need.
