I'm gunna take the moral high ground on this one.

You shouldn't be working on A/C systems unless you are certified!!

Cant you unbolt the compressor and move it out of the way without undoing the lines??

That way you can refit it to the new engine without paying for a degas/regas.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Dad has the equipment to do air con.. I opted to just move my compressor pump to the side during my rebuild - never had a drama at all taking the engine out while that was still attached, very nasty fines for releasing that gas into the atmosphere if they can prove you deliberatly dumped it.

YEah buz, with some skillfull hands you can move the pump and all over to the side, the hoses are quite relsiliant and wont bust or anything even putting kinks in them... done it dozens of times when i was working at subabits, engine replace and then just bolt it back up and you are good.

+1 for Jase on the moral ground... that shit takes 25 years to get to the ozone but it is an ozone killer! i for one dont want my kids suffering cause of something i could have easily avoided just to save 50 bucks.

also B4TT if you have access to the equipment you do know that you get paid for reclaim gas right? depending on the type but it can be upto like $25 for a bottle of reclaim..

Seems like it'd be more of a pain in the ass to have the system re-gassed afterwards than if you just undid the 4 bolts to remove the pump, even if they are impossibly difficult to get at.

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.

trick to it is to use a good quality 1/4 drive wobble joint with a short socket a 3 inch extension. through from the back of the condenser... thats the only one that should give you troubles removing...

You'd use more than $25 worth of gas to re-fill the system :D Dad just got a new System for doing it, it's all regulated now (in NSW at least) and you need to be licensed and certified and all that crap to even buy the gas.

Yeah, I was initially worried bout breaking a hose/joiner. Is done now, I just took the whole bracket off then undid the comp off the bracket.... was easier still.

Yeah i know that, but its an inititive to get you to return the old stuff still.

Yeah its regulated in vic now too, was my job to setup the software that checked if the tradies were licenced and were able to buy the gas.
also... BOC are dodgy lol we introduced a weight checking component into our system for when we get new bottles... 1 in 20 is like half weight!!! anyway thats off topic.. good work buzz!
