Blown H/Gasket

Earlier this week Dad go told he's got a blown H/G in his STi (06). He's gonna use steel gaskets and get some forged pistons put in. Is there anything else he should get done? He's not chasing performance just reliability.
Cheers.

If fitting new pistons you may as well rebuild it completely IMO.

Why new pistons for a blown head gasket?
If fitting new pistons you may as well rebuild it completely IMO.
because the ej255 and ej257 pistons are hypereuretic. that is, not forged.
pulling the heads off is the hard part, once they are off its a piece of cake to change the pistons out. rods are good for 250 and bearings can be changed if you want to go to the hassle.
changing pistons easy way to make an extremely reliable performer which can take a beating!

Makes sense. (I forgot that pistons on Subys are simpler to pull out than other engines.)

Arias Pistons, with custom machined crowns and ceramic coated skirts, and oil ring mod
Argo Rods
11mm ARP headstuds
bearings, unsure of brand
head faces machined
block honed
EL headers
and the dump pipe splitter
and the ypipe splitter
and the 3 port boost solenoid
silcon intake
ported stock turbo
3"tbe to a 2.5" difback
fuel pump
custom MSR tune
that set-up makes 223kw@w (with the AFM i think limiting it) with 440nM torque at 3200RPM, shes on boost by 2800rpm..
i doubt your old man would want all that. but once you've got the strong inside the rest is pretty simple...
