Subaru’s new WRX STI sedan is launched in the virtual world today (25th November), as the latest addition to the hugely popular Gran Turismo 5 PlayStation3 game.

The WRX STI has been a massive sales success since launch, when four-door sedan variants were reintroduced.

In Japan, 2400 sedans and hatches have been sold since debut in July.

Japanese sales are more than double those initially forecast.

Fuji Heavy Industries, the maker of Subaru vehicles, says featuring WRX STI in Gran Turismo 5 is an effective and entertaining way to raise awareness of the model and introduce more people to the adrenaline-pumping WRX STI experience.

Since the first series was introduced in 1997, Gran Turismo has been highly popular not only among video game fans worldwide, but also professional racing drivers.

Gran Turismo has been developed by Polyphony Digital Inc and published by Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.

PlayStation, PS3 and Gran Turismo are registered trademarks of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.

ABOUT SUBARU

Every Subaru sold in Australia features Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and a horizontally opposed Boxer engine, standard Vehicle Dynamics Control electronic stability program, and a five-star rating for occupant safety from the independent Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP). The result - driving confidence.

Make sure you play with a steering wheel with force feedback and not controller! So much better gameplay!

Something like that for $180 at JB HIFI? Definitely not spending $400 plus for some that are available

One of my mates build a wooden frame 'game pod' thing.. Got a seat out of his Trueno, bought the steering wheel thing (some expensive one with what seemed like friction to feel weight and force feedback), and set it all up for GT4.. Now GT5 is out that'd be even MORE awesome!

I'd love to buy a set of STI seats and turn one in to a computer chair, another in to one of these game things, and the back seats a couch =P

Apparently that one is next best thing to the g27 wheel. The dearer one gets the six speed and clutch though

I decided I won't buy GT5 unless I buy a wheel too. How much the g27 set you back if you don't mind me asking? This one definitely looks the go.

My brother has that exact one, bought it about 6months ago on special at EB for $150... Not a bad wheel for the price but cant move the gearstick.

The g27 is the shiznig of all the wheels out there. Can move the gearstick... Thats what they use with all those simulators you find at car shows...

on ebay the cheapest buy now in oz... G27 ebay

then mate it up with one of these cockpit

or build one yourself with pvc piping lol pvc frame

That cockpit looks an awesome setup. That's definately the way to play it.
Alot of money to drop on a computer game though.
