Hey guys, I went to the servo after work, put the clutch in to stop and it just stuck there.

I pried the clutch off the floor to try and re engage it to get home..
It went straight to the floor again and stuck. When it goes down it has resistance, but it really hard to get back up.

I can't engage gears unless the car is off.

Just wondering what everyone thinks it could be??

I'm hoping it's just the slave cylinder and not the clutch but any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated.

Edit: Car has Gen 2 Legacy running gear in it. Stock clutch as far as I know.

Cheers, Jesse

Yeah mate, it's about a mm off max... ?

Unless I'm looking at the wrong one?
Where is it on a TT?

Up near the firewall next to the TMIC?

Cheers

Usually to the left of the TMIC (drivers side).

Gen2 chumps pipe up if it's different to Gen3's.

Ugh i could ramble on for forking days about this stuff.

Cheers mate, I'll check it out in the morning.

From everything I have read it sounds like I have bust a clutch line to the slave cylinder, basing this on the fact I haven't had any issues before now.

Thankfully I have 2 days off.

Dude I'm saying it's your slave cylinder.. Not unusual for the O rings to give way after a few years..

Also, check your clutch return spring in the pedal box (drivers foot area), mine on the Honda was on the verge of snapping

Can the O'rings be replaced or is it the unit as a whole? Where can I source these parts? Forums, auto shops?

Yearh you can get slave cylinder kits buddy, really cheap.. ( I mean like 20 bucks)

Get a hold of Auto One or Repco to order in a box.

We used to sell them at supercheap but all the staff there now are retarded and you'll get the wrong part.

Ok, I've just pulled the TMIC off (mongrel of a job) and there is a heap of fluid all over the gearbox coming from...that's right, the slave cylinder.

So my question is this...Are the slave cylinder reco kits a generic sort of thing, or am I going to have issues because it's not an Australian delivered engine? Do any other Suby slave cylinders fit?
It's a Gen 2 Legacy GTB engine.

Can I fill up the reservoir with fluid just to make it down to the Brake and Clutch place about 5-6k's down the road?
Edit: After bleeding the system.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Cheer, Jesse

They might be generic as in suit many other types of subaru that use the same slave cylinder, but there are no "universal" kits that fit any car..

Prob best to go to a brake a clutch place and rebuild it, should cost you peanuts! or go to a wrecker.

If you were in sydney I know of a place, but it's not gonna help you in brissy...

Is your cylinder from the rex half cut? or is it the o.g Gen II liberty cylinder?, check for any part numbers on it..

Edit: Get repco / bursons / auto one to check for a replacement slave cylinder for you (pretty sure they were made by PBR,
they were heaps cheap too and easy to replace on your own.)

Will do mate.

The cylinder is from the GTB cut.
I know of a good brake and clutch place, just around the corner from my work.

I'm going to head down the Autobarn/Bursons/Repco and if they can't help me, I will get the car towed to the place around the corner from work.

Thanks for all your help mate, really appreciate it.

No worries dude..

p.s why waste money towing it? just remove the cylinder and take it in to repair and the re-install ..

save yourself the effort and cash of towing a car, get your hands dirty son!

Nah, it will be towed for free. Gotta get something for paying for RACQ.

Also it's pissing down rain and I have no shed/garage.

And it is around the corner from my work, so that can be lift to work haha

If it stops raining, I'll pull it off, but dont like the idea of everything being open to the moisture..Throttle body etc
Might get them to replace all the hoses as well.

Then I'm making a heat shield to put in front of the turbo/TMIC

Ok, it's finally stopped raining so I pulled the slave cylinder off and it looks fine, however the hose going into the slave cylinder has a rip in it. I've tried to pull this hose off but I can't? Any ideas..

It has a nut on the other side of a bracket thing which I assumes loosens it off but I feel like the bolt will just get rounded off.

Cheers for any ideas, Jesse

Jesse you will need two spanners for memory, and just have to undo it. Take a look at it, fairly straight forward although you are best off using flare nut ring type spanner to help prevent rounding.

Cheers mate, got it out earlier, replacement hose was $40.

There was a bloody circlip type thing stopping me from moving it at all.
Now I just have to put it all back together, bleed the system and see how it goes.

Cheers Jesse
