Just another idea.

That's the best way on a Gen 2.I ran mine up next to the AC drip pipe.. fit perfect and didn't need to pissfart around removing panels.
Just another idea.
But completely different on the Gen 3.
The best way is on the left of the TMIC, below the brake booster, there's a rather large grommet with nothing running through it. Comes out behind the peddles, Easiest to get to both sides by far!
Don't even need to remove anything.

Take the quarter panel off? Are you serious?...although the quarter panel was a barrel of fun getting off lol.
That's the hardest/worst way I've ever heard to run a cable through the firewall.

That would be the right side of the TMIC
But correct. The gen2 also has this grommet and the rubber behind the firewall is also precut. Just pop out the rubber and the grommet and you have a hole which is also easily accessable from the cabin. Tis where I run all my wires

Its neat, I hate seeing a fully hectic 12 gauge wire running across my engine bay.
each to there own.

Mine's covered in black conduit and is always following another cable, it's hardly what you'd call messy.
But if you want to take off a whole quarter panel to run a cable, it's up to you...

U could always just pull ur inner guard out and run it that way but that would require taking ur wheel off...

Oh cool. I'll just run it to the left of my TMIC then

haha yeah
8 gauge should be a minimum.
0 gauge is a bit of overkill though.

Here's where mine runs, the red dot that I creatively drew in Ms-paint is were the grommet is.
what a mess

and mine is pretty neat, managed to hide it bu running it inside the chassis rail then comes out along the firewall for a few cm and up through the AC pipe.
fuse holder is attached next to the Battery.
I just made sure no matter what, nothing could wear the insulation off the wire and cause a short.. cause that would not be good at all.
also another place you could go.. but its a royal PITA if you stuff up is there is a spare blanked part in the grommet that the fuel lines run through on the firewall on the pass side.
through there its so stealth you would never be able to tell.. only thing is, its a PITA to get to, when i was trying, I pushed the grommet into the cabin.. took 2 hours to pull the sucker back out and into place.. never doing that again.
oh and as for removing inner guard.. getting those back on properly is a massive PITA! i have taken my car back to the smash repairer 2x now because it keeps popping out and doesn't sit right.. each time they remove the whole front end, try to re-align it but if you put one of those clips on just slightly off tap.. good luck, seriously hate those things.
Tom.. that's not your engine bay i hope?

Ahhh nice work Walts, loving the stealth black cable too
See the problem with running my cable through that whole would have been i need it on the passanger side as to keep it away from any of my signal cables, plus its to thick to run up the middle anyway, so down the side and under one of the little covers worked perfectly
