OK so tonight i left work, was raining and windows were fogging up.. hit demist.. few seconds later the Climate control turned off and then back on..
strange, few seconds later same thing.
though huh wtf, turned it off then back on.. same deal.
over the next few minutes it got to the point that as soon as the AC would try kick on the climate control would turn off and then back on..

Turned the A/C off and the CC stayed on normally..
hit A/C BANG few seconds and it would turn off.. it ended up getting so bad it was like it was hooked up to the indicators on off on off poor compressor was having a **** fit..

anyway you will never guess what the problem was.

i thought WTF and started fiddling with other random electrical things in the car while in traffic.
first headlights, dimmer, wipers (cause they were on) indicators, you name it.. i cracked the shits and then removed my phone charger and plugged the ciggy lighter back in,, pressed it too far.. and it turned off again

thats when i found if i pressed the ciggy lighter the CC would turn off.. ok WTF so strange, and then i found my mirrors were not working, and when i tried.. same thing, climate control turned off.

So at this point i had the CC turning off if i put the AC on, pressed the cigar lighter or used my mirror switch.

Was stumped, anyway, made it to mates house, swapped EVERY relay in the bonnet fuese box, same thing.. ok time to try mirror switch, same deal.
swapped climate control unit.. SAME THING!
ok WTF

then i found something even more strange.. with the car on fist click.. not on the reds just first click.. if i pressed the mirror switch or cigar, the Radiator fans would turn on.
ok IT HAS TO BE a short somewhere.. started looking around.

then dropped the lower dash and unplugged each of those relays, same deal.
found the relay that was clicking, it was above the kickpanel fuse box, removed that.. ok Cigar lighter and mirror switch no longer tuned the fans on but the climate control would not work at all now...

What would you think the problem could be?

just so you know.. i found the fix, just want to see what you guys think it might have been...
i mean WTF how can the cigar and mirrors turn on the fans for the radiator???

Dodgy wiring from the cigarette lighter power / lights.

Something is shorting out.

That's my guess.

OK time to update..

It was just a blown fuse for the Cigar/Mirrors :dash2:

Phone charger was playing up and must have blown the fuse.. but WTF, how does a blown fuse cause a short through to the Rad fans?
if anything those things should have just not worked...

It makes seriously no sense to me at all. Stupid stupid subaru

Blown fuse. That's it???

Makes perfect sense to me.

If it were a Peugeot or Renault with an unusual wiring issue, I'd understand. :)

Why would a blown fuse cause it to skip current to another circuit though? i don't understand how any of those circuits would be common?

Mind blank.. Stupid voltage feedback? correct? and because cars use negative switching for most things.. AGHHHH study ruined me lol, i think like an electronics person. forgot about cars mostly being negative switched circuits.
AGhhh thats what Diodes are for FFS lol
