Fairly sure this is where i should be posting this,

But on Friday my 22dollar RFRB grille lookalike came in the post! I was pretty stoked and got to unwrapping the 3tonnes of bubble wrap off of it right away...

In my opinion, its such a waste..

anyway the build quality is ..decent. its not plastic but something similar to fibreglass in its fabrication methods.. :

The black outer layer is very fragile and chips off and scratches quite easily.. other than that its pretty sturdy.
The mesh was pretty roughly put on as u can see, so i trimmed that down nicely and then had to cut bracket holes for the screws from the original grille. Did this on the two ends but it wasnt possible to do it across the top, so drilled holes..

I had to cut a bit of metal off the middle tab of the bonnet bcos it was in theway as it is off-centre ..dont no why..
Posted Image
Covered up the exposed metal with some red touch up paint i have to prevent rust. :)

..anyway, after a good 2 hours of workin it to fit and eventually using cable ties for 4 of the 6 connection points, the grille looked pretty nice.. :)

During, without the grille coz i had to go pick up CREAMFIELDS tix (anyone into that and goin?):

After: :)

After that, i was a tad bored so decided to put the bubble wrap to good use..
Doing the clear side blinkers on libs is generally to make them less noticeable and nicer looking, however white on red as oppsed to orange on red wuld make them look more noticeable and probs ugly..
so i ripped a hole in the bubble wrap and taped up the car body (so much easier than using sheets of newspaper) and gave them a light tint with the same stuff i used on the back. I like the small difference it acheived :)

Unsure if i should paint the black outer to the body colour and the mesh to black or just leave it. Wat are your opinions guys?
-supporting leaving it as is; the black will match a front lip if i manage to find one.

.
peace.

looks great, well done. I have some plans for my grill when I get around to it.

I have a clear bonnet protector that I want to tint and put on my car. Just wondering, does the spray tint work well?

Not bad Dan :)

I reckon colour code the side strips. Would look cleaner...

You coming to Hooters this Wednesday night?

I'm in for spraying the mesh black.

I hate seeing cars with modded grilles and the mesh is left unpainted. Looks cheap IMO.

See how it looks after that but I'd be leaning towards colour coding the grille too...

Looks good anyway mate. Well done :)

You lack the RFRB badge :)

But in comparasin to the $95 I paid and $22 you paid, pretty good man. :flag_of_truce:

Also, grille looks 100000x better with either the 01+ bar or RSK bar.

ty man:)

Uh well it is ok stuff.. it is only a matte black colour, this version doesnt have a clear laquer mixed into it so it wont real look glossy, can easily go over it with some, or i know there's other brands out there with it pre-mixed.

Overall, its easy to apply, looks good imo; but unsure just how good it would go on the bonnet protector :)

I should be at hooters tomoro nite, after tafe, so u culd look at it in person if u are going to be there?

If u had any other query, to hesitate to ask! :)

thanks mate :)

yeah id love to get rid of those side door strips. ugly as.
Thinkin ill wait until i compile any manner of bodywork additions and spray them all up in the red at the one time -saves me a bunch! :)

Yepo defs makin an effort, shuld be out of tafe round 8:30 so hooters round 9:15 or so.. Is that time appropriate do u think?

I was looking too for a black lip to go with my olderbumper (like your own one), but I couldnt find anything so just went the whole way with the RSK bar from Japan.

Hi,

If you have a front on shot of the car I can do some chops for you. I personally think it could look good with the mesh painted deep red, or even white. But black would definitely be the cleanest.

Cheers,
Nik
