My H6 has a weird tick when cold, but it's not your normal tick I think.

It seems that my H6 has a weird noise occurring when cold most mornings. Now, my old NA EJ20 had a similar noise but I believe it went away after (I think: ) replacing oil / topping up oil.

It occurs and makes a weird tap/tic sound and it's not persistent like in a beat but more intermittent like 'TIC pause 2 secs TIC TIC 1 sec TIC....' etc...

I serviced it a little under 2 months ago when i brought it new with Total 5w30 & a Subaru Filter (genuine). I noticed it was over the F mark in the oil... my Subaru mechanic (specialist) said 6.3L for the EZ30 yet some manuals say 5.7 etc...

The best sound I can relate it to is the exhaust manifold / heatshield cooling when you turn a car off, that crackly sound.

It will always go away after being at operating temp for a good 5 - 10 minutes. What could it be? Should I be worried?

sounds like sticky lifters, you can use an additive $10 or so to get rid of this with your next oil change..

no big deal tbh
