this view is of the back of the engine looking forward toward the front of the car. that's the back of the engine where the gearbox housing is bolted to. the circle on the top of the pic is the throttle body. the engine number is stamped on the rear passenger side of the block above the starter motor. you may need to remove the air intake to get a view of the number (if that's where it's located on an EZ engine)

Guys, I really need a quick response to this one.....

A subaru liberty 3.0R Spec B wagon (gen4) should have an engine number like.....U234372 yeah?......what if it's got a number like 01653E???????

Seen another 3.0 wagon that I like, but the engine number looks unusual compared with all the other ones I've seen...

Just did a revs check on carhistory.com.au.....everything showed up ok, no write-offs, no encumberances, etc.....

It's just the engine number doesn't look the same as usual ones...

Anyone here have a 3.0r spec b and can check their numbers for me?

All gen4 liberty's I've checked are U######, this gen4 liberty is like ####E, so same model, year etc.

question is..

3.0L / 2.0L / 2.5L will all have different engine numbers depending on the variant.. Gen IV had 3 engine sizes avaialble..

Remember, chassis number will stay the same, as did the shape and generation of car, engine number is different lad.

Hmmm, well I rang subaru and checked the number with them and they said that is the original engine number from the factory, so breath of relief...

I understand the differences in engine size etc etc, but these were ALL 3.0R-B 2007 models with a U###### engine number versus the #####E of the one I paid a deposit on on Saturday! - Except it's a wagon, maybe that's why it's different.

Oh well, at least Subaru OK'd it.

I can see why subaru did that..

Sedan = U? as in Ultra Cool / Wanted / Loved.
Wagon = E? Eeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!.

heheeh..

*awaiting the wagon boys, once again*
