Sucks... Cause I heard that they've fixed up the issues with the Black Edition finally. It's been on my 'want to get' list for some time, I am just waiting to find a better deal then paying full price.

You can just download the new firmware which has been out since 4 April if you are having issues

Yeah that's exactly the fix I'm talking about. I haven't heard of them having any further issues since.

I had issues with my silver but as soon as I did the update, not only did it fix the issues, it also boots up faster, and the preview through the GoPro App is only has a 2-5sec delayed compared to the 20sec delay previously

Very good question. I know about them only from what I've read here and from what my cousin has got (which is almost every gadget you could possibly have). Not to mention seeing them on their website and stuff.

They are essentially complete packages ready to go...you just need to buy a micro SD card (Gopro3) and away you go.
The Hero3 has 3 levels of features...white, silver and black. If you are going to get one, I'd buy a black (Highest spec) but you need a decent PC to make use of the quality...which I don't (currently) have.

Any high speed stuff? Or stuff like shiv gets up to offroading probably need the black

Just ur general water sports, dash cam etc silver...

Remember that the battery wont last as long with the black if your recording at its higher frame rate and resolution compared to the silver at its highest

Buy a black edition, their like $100 more and you get a remote thats worth like $80?

If you get anything less you'll just want/wish you got the black edition eventually.

Just remember for using them on your car, you need to buy the mount separately. So factor that into your budget.

Please also for anyone considering buying a GoPro - READ THIS THREAD.

My problems have halved since that thread. All that means is that it is usable (only just). Haven't yet done this latest firmware upgrade released this month but will give that a whirl and report back.

You will find that once you do the firmware upgrade, your experience will GREATLY be enhanced man.

I am waiting to buy the Black Edition for reasons Scuba-Roo posted. On top of that, my computer is more then capable of handling the software and performing the processes involved with making videos and clips taken by the camera.
