Gen4 Outback - turbo conversion

Been toying with the idea of Selling my turbo rx wagon, and getting a gen 4 outback to do some soft road touring e.t.c as well as having a lower fuel consumption than the turbo motor for my daily drive to work. My current arrangement is sending me broke.
I like the looks of gen4 outbacks but am wondering, if I wanted to eventually give it a bit more poke, is there anything major that would stop me buying a liberty/legacy gt and dropping the loom and engine into the obk? (availability, compatibility?)
This is the one big downfall for me in the outback because I love the turbo motor in my wagon, but want a bit more functionality, and maybe something newer than what I have now.
I have read the pros and cons for conversions e.t.c and I'm not asking if I should do it, I'm more checking out if it could be simpler than a wrx to liberty conversion with splicing looms compared to a possible straight swap.
Cheers,
Adam

why not supercharge the H6?
or a Gen 4 wagon with outback suspension? could get turbo/manual straight off the line

Lifted libertys just look funny. And would need a body lift to match the outback I think? I thought about that for my current wagon, but would just look bogan.

You'd be surprised with the H6 manual. Even if it's only 5speed, although they're hard to find. Might only find 5speed sports-shift.
If thy tint is dark and thy wheels are black thou car be declared b11tchin'
So you can run it on 6psi with an rx fuel pump?

sounds like a good idea, however from what i've heard the Gen4 ECU system is a whole new beast, i'd do some hefty research on this topic first!
That's what I thought alex, so many sensors an things to mate up. I'm not that keen on h6 Im really happy with the turbo I have at the moment. dad has the gen 3 h6 and it's not that impressive.

EZ30R or EZ30D?
30R is a completely different beast. Tune and exhaust they do 140kw atw no probs stacks of torque down low.

Love the idea of a turbo charged Outback. Given the roads where you live, that sort of combination would be perfect for you.
Don't discount the idea of using an H6 as a base for supercharging. The H6 in your dads car is quite different to what you get in the Gen4's. The Gen4 gains all that Active Variable electrickery, along with an electronic throttle which is coupled to SI-Drive on the later revised models. The ECU has a more aggressive tune, plus the Gen4's also have the dual exhaust system as opposed the single one on your dads car.
With a few light mods, there's a bit of power to unlock from it and the option of supercharging...although I don't know the specifics of that last part and the process (and cash!) involved.
So whats the go with your Liberty? Why is it all costing so much for ya?

The wagon costs me about $140 a week in fuel as a daily.
I just have the feeling that I love boost, and I don't wanna loose that!

In America, they've got the Outback XT. That's an Outback with the 2.5L turbo unit. What a sleeper!
Definitely worth test driving an Outback H6 with the EZ30R. The EZ30D in mine is great, but I test drove the R and it was a very sweet drive indeed. Also drive the revised model with the SI-Drive feature and see if that's of any benefit to you, what with being able to utilise an "Eco" mode and that...

Nah, Outback H6's were all auto only unfortunately...Do any of the h6 models come in manual? I'm pretty open to trying different models would love a turbo if it's possible
It might be worth checking out SL-i.net as I recall there being a Gen4 turbo conversion in there somewhere. That would be a good start for research as obviously the ECU and sensors etc will require a lot of consideration.
