So I've noticed about a week ago that both my reversing lights are no longer working...
I have replaced the globes with new ones even tho the old ones were perfect condition..
I replaced the reversing switch on the gear box for safe measure and still no luck... So I pulled out a Mutli-meter and tested if there was a voltage going to the reversing switch which there is (12v), I tested the reversing switch with the car reverse and it is showing around 0.1 of an OHM so its operating perfectly... Is there anything else I have missed or I need to test...
Do reversing lights have a relay or is there something else that controls them as well?
I just don't want to have to take it to an auto-elect and fork out heaps when its a simple fix thats all
Any help is much appreciated
Cheers
Jono

Checked every single fuse (under bonnet and dash)? It's probably tied in with something else - so it won't be labeled as being for the reverse lights.
2002 Outback - it's gone...

Are the terminals for the globes dirty or corroded? Check for power at the globes too, if the switch at the box is a grounding type switch and the globes are receiving power than the fault will lie in the wiring between globes and switch.

Hey guys,
Sorry about the delay in this, I didn't get a chance to look at it for a while now with work and everything going on!
I did find the culprit as you can see in the attached picture...
Its located on the right hand side (drives side), just behind the plastic wall in the boot near the hinge for the boot lid.
Now if it had broken an inch or more outside of the connector I could fix it but I'm not sure how you fix when its broken off flush with the metal pin inside the white connector??? Can you some how pull the metal pin thing out of the connector and get a new one to replace it or is it best off to just send it to an auto elec to fix?
Cheers Jono

Hey Jono,
Most connectors have removable pins in them, held in by a small one way tab. If you have a small enough screwdriver you might be able to pull it out. Then you will have to resolder.
Might be easier to get an auto sparky to do it

as above...
...or you could add a small section of wire to the broken bit and connect it to the other end of the plug.

also check the plug on the gearbox mate that would have been my 1st guess thats what lets the lights know when to come on
