After pulling apart a few of my interior panels in the last couple of months I have started to notice more and more rattles and squeaks.
I can hear one from what sounds like behind the dash, one from the gearknob area only on acceleration, one in the boot, and one in the passenger door. They all weren't there until I took the interior panels off. They obviously only shake and rattle when I go over a rough part of road or bumps.
Just wondering, is there anything I could do to stop these parts from shaking and rattling?
Maybe putting foam or some sort of fabric in between the plastics or something similar?

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Ear rings in the ash tray? :P my old wagon had a rattle on the steering column shroud, I packed the parts that touched with foam, worked ok.

bend the metal clips more for the ones around the shifter and boot area, door foam or more cable ties or similar to tie things off that you added maybe

Cheers guys. What is the foam? Does it come in like a spray bottle or something similar?

expand a foam? lol
But seriously, pull the trim off, check all clips are in properly and if all fails, some adhesive foam strips (thats what is used from factory in many locations)
but take it from someone that used to pull suby's apart as a job... check the clips! many many times its simply just a clip that is not correctly in place or has broken... go grab some from the local wrecker.. new from subaru stealership will be like $3+ each.. they are horrible ripoffs

Foam I had was just some I had laying around, soft stuff kinda like what you would find in seat cushions, something to dampen the plastic rattling will do.

Hard part is finding the rattle!!

Yeah that sort of foam was what I was thinking. Stuff out of mattresses and shart.
Thats what I think I'll have a bit of trouble with. I suppose I'll just keep taking bits off and checking until I don't hear rattles anymore. Thanks guys, a huge help.

This is the downside of pulling a dash apart.
Once it's been tampered with, it will never be the same again.

I've got a metal on metal buzzing sound coming from behind my headunit. Annoys the absolute crap outta me but I've been behind there about 50 times too many so I just turn the music up :P

kinda reminds me about that guy on Ozfail that took his car back to the dealer like 5 times in ACT because it was vibrating at the back, and he cracked the shits cause they just put some foam in there..
