The problem with the fakes v genuine is that the copies are now VERY good in appearance and are very hard to spot. I’ve seen a genuine and counterfeit black edition SSQV side by side and they are 99% identical. All of the markings, serial numbers, branding etc are spot on. The packaging is almost spot on as well but have more discrepancies than the actual BOV itself. I would not be buying one of these unless it was from an authorised HKS dealer as there are so many fakes on ebay and online that you have no idea what your buying. I think the rule of if the price seems too good to be true then generally it is.

Also have a look at the other items the seller is selling. If they are selling a bunch of no name products plus some HKS SSQVs, HKS Super Power Reloaded Pod filters, Apexi Boost Gauges and Apexi pen style turbo timers then I’d say it was a copy. If they have an extensive range of other known brands or wide selection of other HKS products then they could be ok. Maybe

have a read over here Chris

Buy from HKS importer, 10x better.

Or buy Turbosmart.

you are going to need a retune if you change BOV. stock BOV recirculates back into the stock intake system POST AFM which means the air has already been calculated. you will ruin the mixtures with a venting BOV, just FYI.

noise is overrated, just get a bit turbo with more boost, much more satisfying sound trust me :D

This is Subyclub after all.

If you're looking at Atmo BOVs you'll need to upgrade to twin turbo, like this;

I wasnt actually going to buy one, was more curious to see how you can tell a fake one from a real one...

If I was to get a BOV it would definately be a plumb back one like the turbosmart ones... Turbosmart Kompact

SSQV genuine or fake.

WHO CARES?

BOVs:

It's in the ten commandments I'm sure. Or in Metallica lyrics. Somewhere important:

BOVs are for slow cars.
If you're going to use one, have a recirculating one.

Else:

Plug up both hose ends, and run no BOV.

Spend moneys elsewhere.

I've owned both genuine and a copy. Could'nt really tell the difference. Genuine might of been a bit louder for some reason though.
If it's cheaper then $150-200 i'd say fake.
