I brought my GC8 about 2 months ago with a defi gauge installed and wasn't currently working. As far as I can tell, it does get power, it reads every now and then. I'm unsure of the problem. I wanted to get it checked out at a mechanics but don't know if its worth the trouble of paying someone for their 5-10 minutes of diagnoses to tell me it's just stuffed.

Hopefully I can get some help into checking whats wrong with it or maybe stealing someone for an evening to have a look at it themselves.

TL;DR

Defi Boost gauge gets power, reads boost on and off, unsure of issue.

Thanks in advanced for any help I get.

Didn't know if it mattered what type it is but either way I don't know, it looks like this but..

check the vacuum line connection for leaks, if it's all air-tight and connected properly, your actual gauge is malfunctioning..

Is it a China copy?

Subyclub is being sales spammed.
Hillarious.
Next time I'm in Guangzhou I will come and visit you at your office.

Well I got told he imported it.. But sorry for ring unclear. Always has power, only sometimes reads boost. I've checked lines and there doesn't seem to be a leak

If that's wat ur gauge looks like, it is possibly a fake... it looks nothing like mine or my brothers...

This probably a stupid question but is it connected to a control unit?

Damn, guess I'll look for another brand gauge or something :S no clue if it's connected to a control unit, most likely not...?

a defi control unit will look something like this and will generally be mounted in the glove box or somewhere around the drivers side of the cabin for easy access

pretty sure the Defi Racer Series gauges (which yours isn't) are the only ones that don't run a control unit which means yours is a copy/replica/fake.

there are plenty of decent gauges around for reasonable money or if you wanted to splash out you can get yourself a genuine Defi :)

Definitely does not have one of those lying around the car.. I guess I'll go find a decent boost gauge. Any recommended brands or as long as it reads it should be fine? Also, eBay gauges? Yay/nay

I have a HKS boost gauge and oil pressure gauge for sale.

Boost is 60mm white background, black writing (when lit up the writing is green)

Oil is 60mm white back ground, black writing (however when lit up the background goes Blue)
