Hey guys,

Seems my Tailshaft has broken... (too much power :P)

I was reversing into a parking space tonight and heard a clunk then wierd noise like shaking a milo tin full of marbles...

I jacked the car up and the tailshaft has abit of play at the centre bearing... doesn't vibrate when driving but it clicks really loud and is more prodominant at lower speeds thinking Uni-joint or bearing has blown out.

Pretty sure its not the CV as they dont click when turning.

Anyone know if I can get the Uni-joint and bearing rebuilt? or I'll have to buy a whole new tailshaft?

A uni joint will not normally make a 'tin full of marbles' sound (clunk on and off throttle). Especially with independent suspension, as the tailshaft doesn't transmit torque on any angle.
I would be looking at a CV type joint or perhaps a broken tooth in the gearbox/diff(s).

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Drivrshaft fell apart?

When i snapped mine it sounded like that, i had no drive and the noise was the driveshaft pulling all power through it as jyst spinning around hitting the abs sensor, wheel bearing and hub

Im 99% sure you cant replace the uno joints on a subaru. Its a whole tailshaft
